Andi’s permanent job is in Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia as a lecturer in the Department of Geodetic Engineering. He is currently an Australian Leadership Awards Scolar (PhD candidate) at the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS), University of Wollongong, Australia. He was previously a UN-Nippon research Fellow at the UN Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS), New York, US.
Andi was born in a small village in Tabanan, Bali in 1978 and spent his first 15 years in the same place. There, he studied in primary and junior high school and started to learn many things at the first time. In 1993, he studied in TRISMA, a senior high school in Bali, where finally leadership attracted him so. Involving in an organization is something he really enjoys.
In 1996-2001 he spent his time studying surveying in Gadjah Mada University (UGM), where he both academically and socially learned many things. There, also he finally found Asti, his soulmate who is now his lovely wife.
He started professional career in 2001 when he joined Unilever Indonesia as a Territory Sales Supervisor. However, a technical job tempted him more, so he decided to leave Unilever and joined Astra Otoparts in Jakarta in the same year. Working as an IT programmer in Astra was something he really enjoyed, at least at the first year.
His adventure in professional career ended up in UGM when he decided to be a lecturer. Since 2003, he has been teaching in the Department of Geodetic Engineering, where he graduated. After a long journey and a tough struggle, he finally succeeded to win the Australian Development Scholarship to proceed his Master Degree in UNSW, Sydney. He earned his Master of Engineering degree in 2006.
