Biografi Singkat Hosea Handoyo

Hosea Saputro Handoyo (1985) earned his Bachelor of Life Sciences (Hons.) at HAN University of Profesional Education. Currently, he is pre-PhD program at The Sir James Black Centre, Medical Research Council - Protein Phosphorylation Unit, University of Dundee, Scotland, UK. In this lab, he is supervised by Sir Philip Cohen Besides his study/internship, he is active in many organizations related to science and social studies internationally. With big interest in biotechnology, education, and society, he aims to integrate science in society: empowering public awareness to sciences state-of-the-art and enabling scientists to engage with sociaetal aspects. As a scientist, he feels that public needs more scientific education and leaving the superstitious beliefs behind. A case that he observes in Indonesia for example, there people believe that mentally-handicapped children believed to be possessed by demons. However, as a normal citizen, he also feels that many scientists just sit behind their bench and do their experiments in the lab without informing the public. Through effective education and strategic communication, he has faith that this dillemma can be overcome. In spare time, he likes to read books, write articles, listen to music, art, theater, walk on the park, have adrink and philosophical discussion.
